You might not know, but without Australia, we may never have known about avo on toast (I know, can you even imagine…). The Aussies flipped brunch on its head and created the 11 o’clock meal we know and love now.
The city is famous for its café culture, and honestly? It’s everything. Think the freshest avo toast, fluffy pancakes, and coffee so good you’ll be daydreaming about it long after you’ve gone home. Honestly, this was one of our favourite things about Australia, the food is all incredible but the bunches are next level.
- Paddock on Crown - known for the best fried chicken waffle sandwich with bacon and maple syrup!
- Basket Brothers, Surry Hills - if you are looking for a full-on savoury feast, this is your spot!
- Stoneground, Hunters Hill - the pastries here are off the charts, they are like pieces of art that are almost too good to eat…don’t miss the strawberry matcha croissant!
- Go early to beat the weekend crowds (locals love brunch too).
- Many cafés are cashless; bring your card.
- Sit outside if you can! Enjoy the people watching!
Once you have started the day with brunch, it's time for some shopping! Sydney has some great vintage shopping, and it's quite reasonable there. Surry Hills is the go-to neighbourhood for unique finds and Newtown is also a great option!

- Go in the late afternoon for an amazing sunset.
Sydney beaches are world-famous for a reason, so of course, a beach day is an absolute must whilst you are in Oz. Whether you want Bondi’s buzz, Manly’s surfer vibes, or a secret cove like Milk Beach, saving a day for relaxing and dipping your toes in the sea is an essential part of your Australia trip!
- Pack reef-safe SPF (protect your skin and the ocean).
